We offer you all types of orthopaedic treatments. All joint replacement surgeries are performed by experienced Czech surgeons in Prague, or other places in the Czech Republic. The main goal of joint replacement surgery is to improve walking and other movements, and of course, pain relief.

Common knee prosthesis surgeries
Total replacement + 2 weeks of physiotherapy (rehabilitation program)
Bilateral knee replacement + 4 weeks of physiotherapy (rehabilitation program)
There is a huge price advantage here compared to the other European countries. We can provide you with documents (medical reports and bills) to claim the costs of the procedure on your local medical services provider.

Total knee replacement

Total knee replacement, also called knee arthroplasty (TKR) or a knee prosthesis. Knee replacement surgery removes damaged parts of a hip joint and replaces them with special implants. This orthopaedic surgery is necessary when the knee joint is worn or damaged to such extent that your mobility is significantly limited and you basically experience constant pain.
The surgeon chooses from a variety of implants and surgical techniques, considering your age, weight, activity level, knee size and shape, and overall state of your health.
Our surgeons work only with implants with necessary certifications – e.g. Zimmer Biomet and Smith & Nephew, worldwide leaders in the industry.

Waiting times

There are no waiting times. The rehabilitation takes place in the same facility.

Length of stay

Generally 2-3 weeks (including the rehabilitation)
Day 1 – hospitalization, evaluation of pre-op checkup, consultation with the surgeon
Day 2 – surgical procedure
Day 3 and 4 – ICU under the supervision of the Chief Orthopedist
Followed by 5 days under the supervision of orthopedist
Followed by rehabilitation stay (14 days minimum)
